Out of the blue, somebody offers to absolve you of a huge debt. There are only two catches: one, you have to marry an ogre; and two, well, it isn't actually your debt. What's a girl to do? Negotiate? Call a lawyer? Tell the ogre to take a hike? Not if you're Aoi, and the debtor is your beloved grandfather.
Kakuriyo no yadomeshi is based off of the light novel series written by Midori Yūma. It follows college student Aoi Tsubaki, who inherited her grandfather's ability to see ayakashi, along with his huge monetary debt, to an ogre. To pay the debt, her grandfather had offered her hand in marriage as payment. Outraged at the thought of having to marry an ayakashi ogre, she decides to work off the debt instead. It is an easy to follow romance anime with a layer of supernatural that helps soften some of our anime picks this season. Some characters reminded us of Kamisama Kiss and Black Butler (they're easy to spot). Who could pass on that story anyhow? We didn't and think if you want some romantic comedy this season, you shouldn't pass either.
