Based off the mobile video game created by Cygames for Android and iOS, Uma Musume - Pretty Derby has been adapted to anime by TOHO Animations and P.A. Works. We never played the mobile game, so we don't know how it compares to the game that it is based off of.

The anime seems to fill the hole Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid left when it ended. It could be the moe feel to the anime or the half human half animal characters, either way we have a good feeling about it. The anime follows Special Week, a horse girl from Hokkaido, who moved to Tokyo to attend Tracen Academy. A school that grooms horse girls to be race winners and idols. She and her classmates compete in the Twinkle Series in order to earn the title of "The Country's #1 Horse Girl", which is Special Week's goal since accepting the invitation to attend Tracen Academy. Uma Musume - Pretty Derby has a whimsical feel to it, as did Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid. Now, whether it will have the same success of MKDM remains to be seen, but we will keep watching.
