It's orphans......with a twist. Based off the 2016 manga series, Yakusoku no neverland is a creative story of orphans longing to be freed from their orphanage. Set in the year 2045, we meet 11 year old Emma and her 37 "siblings" in their orphanage. They are cared for by Isabella, or mom as the orphans call her. Isabella provides them with clean white uniforms, gourmet tasting food, comfortable beds and administers daily tests as part of their education. Life seems great for Emma and her siblings. That is until Conny is sent away by "adoption". When Norman, her sibling, and Emma notice that Conny had left her beloved stuffed bunny behind, they take it and hurry to catch up to Conny and Isabella before they leave. They catch up but too late to help Conny. This is where we learn that the orphanage is more life a farm, raising livestock..... We won't spoil it too bad, you'll have to watch for more details. It is a good suspenseful anime. The animation itself is very well done and we are on board the rest of the season on this one.
I am surprised there is an anime for this. I read a sample chapter, but wow, way too eery, not the sort of thing I want to think about. Not something I can stomach, but I guess many readers sought an encore.
